To Tip or Not to Tip.

Remember when in America you tipped people because they gave you good service, not because it was part of their lively hood. Most people won't be old enough to remember that (honestly I don't know when the idea of tip wage was invented).
Why are we talking about tipping. Because it is something that I personally am involved in. In two sense of it infact. I tip when I can afford it, and I sometimes receive tips. It is about a .05% chance that I ever get a tip, but sometimes do. Maybe you can call me greedy, but it is way to often that I or any of my coworkers receive tips. Some asshat who came up with tip wage really screwed up everyone's view on tipping. It actually is funny because I can throw out a World of Warcraft reference that involves this. I am sure this happens today, but it was quite often that when you would get someone to craft items for you, they would tell you they  needed the materials and then they required a Tip. But that is not what a tip is. They were misusing tip for a service fee. Much like we do at places who use tip wage. You are not tipping them for their good service, you are paying a hidden service fee that you do not required to pay, but you are. Because if you don't pay it that person may not make enough money to survive. Oh and don't think that the fact that they employers are suppose to pay up to minimum wage if the employee doesn't get enough in tips. Cause I have talked to many workers who have been strong armed or feel intimidated by the companies they work for to demand they be paid properly. Lets be honest a lot of kids get into these situations. Also 18 states / provinces in the US still pay tip wage of 2.13. This has been the tip wage since 1991.
Opps I did it again. I went off on a tangent. The thing is people should be tipping more often for more things. You should tip even a dollar for someone who gives you good service. May pops is a good example of this. I won't say all the time, because I don't pay attention that much, but he tips the people at HEB for ringing up our monthly foodz and the bagger as well. I am not saying you should tip everyone all the time; that is silly, but if you go somewhere and someone offers you a service, say you come into DQ and we are busy. Consider tipping (also make sure to say tip the cook if you got food. because chances are that will greatly improve their day *cough*). I will admit we some times get so slammed that what I get paid does not feel worth the amount of work I am doing and when a cashier slips money to me, it makes it feel worth it.
I will admit that this is perhaps my own greed, but we had a guy who was given a 20 dollar tip for walking a bag of food out to a car. Maybe I am a dick for being annoyed by this, but I spend 10 minutes sweating to death in our terribly constructed kitchen and he spent less then 30 seconds to walk an order out and he got a tip like that. Note a DQ we all make the same wage, well similar wages. Okay this is devolving. Time to wrap up. To tip or not to tip. If you can tip, it will greatly improve someones day and make them feel worth more then their companies have pegged them as being worth.
